Thank you for your interest in our ‘online Filing’ system. eOLF allows the online filing of patent related documents in a secure environment. More information about eOLF and about this procedure can be found on our portal through this URL: https://bpp.economie.fgov.be/bpp-portal/web/guest/efiling.

To request access to use the eOLF system, please follow the following steps:

  1. Request an EPO smartcard or Digicert certificate
First of all, in order to access the eOLF Filing tools in a secure way, you need to have a smartcard delivered by the European Patent Office and the corresponding pin number. Smartcards are used for online filings (eOLF) and are also needed in case you’d like to request access to a MyPage account in the future, to follow up on your payments or on the portfolio of patents you are managing. A smartcard can be requested through the URL http://nrm2.epoline.org/myepoline/pcf/mainMenu.html which is also on the above URL.

However, these smart cards are being phased out. Send us a message titled 'request software certificate' together with a proof of your identity (f.e. a copy of the front and back of your national ID-card) if the EPO can no longer issue you a smartcard, and we will provide you with further instructions.

    -    In case you already dispose of DigiCert certificate issued by the Dutch or Luxembourg Office, you do not need to request a new separate certificate for the Belgian Office

    -    This certificate will be valid for one year only.

  1. Request access to eOLF.
Connect to the following address: https://bpp.economie.fgov.be/bpp-portal/web/guest/efiling
Insert your smartcard and click on the link ‘Automatic Registration Tool’ https://eolf.economie.fgov.be/olf/enrol/?lang=en
This link will not work if you have not connected a valid smartcard to your computer.
To be able to give you access to eOLF, it is essential that all the field in the form are filled in.
The Office will then be informed of your request to activate your EPO Smartcard and will start the internal procedure for activation.

  1. Request an identification number
Please note that representation of patent holders within the Belgian office of intellectual property has been reserved to persons with one of the following qualities. You need to be recognized either as
    - A professional representative in Belgium
    - A professional representative in another member country of the European Economic Area AND having nationality of one of those member countries
    - Lawyer in Belgium or in another member country of the European Union.
To be able to recognize you correctly and in the case that you have not yet interacted with the Belgian office before, could you please reply to this email with
    - A proof of the registration of this person in a national register of professional representatives for patent holders
    - A proof of the European nationality of this person
    - A proof of the bureau you are working for

If you are (an employee of) the patent holder or applicant, you also need to identify yourself. Please simply reply to this email with the documents which might prove your status.
For individuals, this could be your name and a signature, or a copy of your id card.

For companies, this could be a stamp of the company.
Of course, in this quality you can only file documents for the patent holder you represent.

Only after the above actions have been executed, we will be able to analyze your request for an eOLF access in ‘production mode’. You will be informed once the access has been granted, or if there is any issue. Once the access has been granted, you will have to

- Install the software and the specific Belgian plugins to the eOLF system

- Check the activation in demo mode before performing filings in production
